How Do I Know If Sex And Relationships Therapy Is For Me?

If you have stumbled upon this page, something about sex therapy is resonating- but you might be asking yourself "How do I know if this is really for me?"
Lets start with what you are noticing.
Are you feeling...
Exhausted by the idea of talking about sex with your partner.
Overwhelmed by the swirling, anxious thoughts that show up before a sexual encounter.
Wanting to feel connected and present during sex, but continuing to feel some sort of “block”.
Confused by your fantasies and desires when it comes to intimacy and sex.
Curious about your sexual identity, but unsure where to turn to explore your questions.
Resentment and grief surrounding the lack of sexual fulfillment in your relationship
If you have noticed any of these feelings causing you distress, sex and relationships therapy might be a space to gain a deeper understanding of your experience.
Many folks I work with feel “stuck” when it comes to sex. They often feel internal conflict and anxiety around who they want to be sexually. I help clients sort through and explore the different parts of themselves that show up around sex.
We start the process of individual and couples therapy by discussing your current feelings and goals for therapy. Then, we get the history of your relationship to sex and intimacy. We then start the process of exploring the various parts of you that show up around sex. We might also bring in various tools to create deeper communication and connection. All of this happens at your pace. Sex is a complex topic, and we never rush this process.
